Super Blackhawk stuck half cocked

Three screw uncoverted super blackhawk, stuck half cocked. I have the belt mountain extra large pin. Can't move or spin it.

Luckily all the rounds went off. Handloads, 24g H110, 240 SWC. Stout but not over the limit.

I tried point it up, and pulling on hammer, no luck.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Anything that can be done to keep the gate from falling down every other shot?

This gun has always been funny. I thought the pin was the problem. Maybe I am not engaging it correctly or locking in?

My .357 blackhawk has never had a problem. Is it the gun? Stouter loads in 44 cause more issues?

Bought it used few years ago.

Also seller said the trigger had been lightened. It is touch, nice for target shooting. Not sure how it was done, or has anything to do with this.

Is there a way to go back and edit posts??????

Wow, been on alot of forums, never had one where you couldn't edit. Seen some that had a time limit. Some where you can't delete. Which I find annoying.

2 more posts to go.

Maybe it is the 11th.

Either way, gun is stuck. Can't pull hammer back. I have watched videos on sticking pin, and then firing to take tension off.

I have read about trying to put a vice grip on pin. But the belt mountain doesn't leave much room.

Nothing special, just thought I would put a pic up.

One of the plum ones. At first I thought it was re-blueing, since it is not all plum, until I read up on it. Wish it was all plum, it is a very good bluing, that you just don't see anymore.

The gate fix is simple once you take the gun apart to fix the hammer issue, there's a screw under the frame, visible with the trigger guard/grip frame removed. Adjust the tension on the gate to your liking.

The most likely problem is that the cyl latch actuating plunger mounted in the hammer base has bent or snapped. A simple part replacement.

Don't attempt to remove the cyl pin, just disassemble the gun.

This factory video will help if you didn't get the instruction manual with the gun:

Ruger doesn't have an OM single action video choose the video at this link for ‘Revolver Tech Tips” and scroll down on the right of this video window to “Tech Tips-Old Army Disassembly” which has the same lock work:

I have watched videos, I though you needed to cock all the way, and stick the pin under the spring, to take apart.

Is this a common problem? Gun is from the 60s and don't know its history, so I can't really complain. I just thought this things were tanks. So far my BW has been reliable. I bought for black bear country. May just carry BH with buffalo bore. Plus this is just a big gun. Usually carry 44 special with 3" barrel.

But I still enjoy shooting this gun.
