This happened today yet another will head back to the mother ship

Recently ran across this 7-1/2" Bisley .44 mag, looked it over good and purchased it, got it out today and seems to have accuracy potential and just as i was thinking hey some trigger work and load development may put this one into the hunting rotation.....pang, clink, behind me and to my left, huh stop unload look things over, hey the front sight is gone.

lost rear sights before but never a front, i guess a call to Ruger tomorrow but what chaps my hide is a few things

1 i just sent another back which is on a fed ex truck somewhere as we speak
2 this will be the fourth Ruger sent back in 24 months which doesn't include the 2 i had fixed myself and the brand new gp 100 with a bad rear sight which i haven't addressed yet
3 they will fix it but it requires reblueing which to me is like crashing a new car, even though it will be fixed its still a wrecked car
4 looks to me like they solder these rather than braze, looks like some flux was applied but no joining material ?
5 i know they fix em, and I've been very understanding , and i know we are not talking about custom or performance center guns here but i think i might have reached the end for now

the good news is i had good luck with the other three rugers i had out today

a couple probably bad iPad pics sorry

I can't stand incompetent people.... it's like they only have one job to do on the assembly line...install the front sight on a barrel. I bet it's some idiot standing there with ear buds in and jamming to their favorite tunes and completely oblivious to what they are hired to do. It's no skin off their butt if a customer has a warranty problem because in all likely hood it's his fellow co-worker in the next building who needs a job too.

It'll get fixed, no doubt about that. I love my Ruger and feel fortunate there is nothing wrong out of the box.

Good luck and best wishes.

Maybe I've been lucky, but the 4 Ruger single actions I've bought have been perfect.

Ruger's new single action Takedown model...

It's not their best idea, I'd send it back.

Darn cold apparently

Actually I've soldered and brazed all my adult life and if I produced a joint like that I would probably loose a job over it.
I've never seen the Ruger factory but as beholden to the share holders as they have become I'm surprised an operation like that in particular hasn't become automated, but then again I know nothing of manufacturing

These Stories have become all to common with rugers. I've actually been having better luck with charter arms lately. Even went and bought my first new S&W. just cant lay down money for a ruger just to send it back and get told pick another gun this ones not fixable and not in a production run so we cant replace it with what you bought and wanted. this has happened 3 times in the last 4 years.

That's sad!

That's why I buy Old Models exclusively (except for my Talo Birdshead NMV).

I've read of too many quality control issues with the NM Blackhawks...

My blued .357 New Vaquero 5.5" was made several years ago or a bit more, the general fit and finish are nearly perfect, it has a bit more endshake than I prefer but still within Ruger's specs. However, I've decided I'd prefer the 4 5/8" barrel.

I can only find one similar gun with the shorter barrel in our area, more recent production. I was getting ready to buy it when I noticed a couple of small nicks on the frame that had been blued over, and the front sight was bent (not clocked) to the side.

Maybe I'll end up getting my original re-barreled at Ruger, despite the cost and inconvenience.

Grrr...

OP, you posted on April 16, and now have your repaired gun back on April 27. While it sucks that your sight fell off, you certainly would be hard pressed to beat that kind of customer service.

Looks like a really nice Bisley.
