OM BH UN-Conversion Project

I purchased these today for an upcoming UN-conversion to a 1968 OM 3-screw .30 carbine Blackhawk. Yes, they are from the large frame Blackhawk.

Can any of you post a photo of all the conversion parts that I will be removing from the old gal in order to install these original parts?

Your photo is missing one part to complete the un-conversion: the trigger return plunger. This is the part that the trigger return spring (the coil spring shown) fits into against the trigger.

Don't have a photo of the parts right now, but can make one if somebody doesn't come up with one soon.

Bob Wright

Duh! That part is probably in your gun right now!

Yeah I thought about that too!

But you're right........the gun has one already in it.

The only actual conversion parts that need replacing are the cyl pin, hammer, trigger and cyl latch. The transfer bar is just discarded.

The conversion parts (excluding the bent nail):

The trigger return spring actually is a little different in rate from the original, a little heavier, but not actually a big deal.

And per your other thread it looks like you won't be needing these. But keep 'em anyway, they're like money in the bank . . . better, actually, as they keep appreciating in price. Besides, you may need 'em in the future.

Actually, I may need these parts sooner than "in the future". I am still the high bidder on the CONVERTED .30 BH. Auction ends tomorrow around 4PM ET. This is one auction that I hope I lose!

The UN-CONVERTED .30 BH I just did a BUY NOW.

So....I may be selling one of them soon!

Can't you retract your bid?

Nope. I entered into a contract when I placed my first bid on this gun.

It's all good either way.

A little extra cash isn't an issue right now.

Besides...I can keep the better of the two, right?

Yep. And the "other" one can become "trading stock" if you so desire, in pursuit of that .45 convert you're after.

And if you came across a .45 that had been converted, you have the parts.

It's all good.

Yep, really nice package. This combo is tough to find in that condition, with all the goodies and even a LETTER.

Might as well mention it now as later . . .

If you come across a nice non-convert in your price range, it's not impossible to pick up the "other" cylinder here or on the "other" Rugerforum. The package wouldn't "letter" but that's up to you.

Just a thought.

And a good thought it is - thanks!

I'm buying shooters actually but intend to stay with the OM BH 3-Screw non-converted variety as much as possible with the Talo Birdshead .45ACP being the exception for now.

Factory letters are not of any importance to me at this time...
