New 1985 Ruger Blackhawk Bisley 44 Mag.

I need some help here. My gunsmith recently acquired the handgun inventory of a gun shop that went out of business. The owner of the business was known to buy guns and then over the years forget what he had. One of these is a new 1985 Ruger Blackhawk Bisley 44 mag which I just bought. My question is, should I keep it in unfired condition or doesn't it make much difference. My gunsmith is getting ready to install a scope base.

First of all, welcome from the Bluegrass. Shoot it. Otherwise it's just a paperweight.

Drilling and tapping will reduce the desirability in the eyes of some prospective buyers should you decide to resell it, but the gun has no collectible value in that it wasn't particularly rare or a special edition. Great gun for shooting, so shoot it. Have a fixed sight Bisley Single Six from 1985 which is actually a rarity and I shoot it all the time. Would love to have a Bisley 44 mag of the same vintage to go along with it.

Didn't know they made Bisleys back then.

I'd shoot it.
