I bought a used Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter online. Apparently "like new" means "fired but never ever cleaned, ever," and "without a rear sight."
So, now I need a new rear sight assembly, including the springs and screws. Is there any reasonably cheap way of getting the assembly?
Also, it doesn't appear that there are many options for fiber optic front and rear sights. Is there any difference between the options out there? Is there a "best"? I will be using this as a deer hunting gun for use in thick woods, so quick target acquisition is key.
Thanks, Carl. Those are the ones I see being sold. Are those any good? Are there any other options?
I did a bit of digging, and I think I'll have to end up buying the entire rear sight assembly just to get the springs and screws. Buying the individual parts is more expensive...
I reckon they're decent enough, but for my eyes' particular brand of wonkiness, fiber optics are a no-go. Front sight glows & blurs out my sight picture.
Interesting, I had not thought of that. I haven't used fiber optic sights before, but I figured that if I had to buy a new rear sight regardless, I might as well "upgrade" to something that will allow faster target acquisition.
It looks, however, like I'll have to buy the rear sight assembly anyway to get all of the springs and screws. At that point, I might as well just buy that and see how I like it. Then, if later I decide on fiber optic sights, I can spend the $60 on these.
