SBH End Shake

I have a new 4 5/8" SBH, around 100 rounds fired and after reading about b/c gap and endshake I decided to check mine. The gun shoots great, it is very accurate. The b/c gap is .009" and the end shake is .006". This seems to be excessive, especially for a new gun.

I contacted Ruger and this is "within specs", what do I need to do, shim for end shake? I would like to send the gun back but I don't know if they would fix anything.

Thanks

I just called back and talked to Gil, I told Gil the measurements taken on my SBH and his immediate response was, "we need that gun back here sir." He scheduled a time for UPS to pick up my gun to return to Ruger.

I have a 5.5 bisley in 45lc and a 7.5 sbh hunter in 45lc and the bisley has half the cyl gap as the hunter. because of the gap differance they both chrono the same even with a 2" barrel legnth differance.

The crazy thing is I contacted Ruger 3 times and got 3 answers. 1st was it's in spec, send it in and we might fix it, 2nd time was send it in for a check on the endshake but b/c gap is good, 3rd time was simply we need the gun back I will send a label for pickup.

I have never sent a gun in for repair, I hope it works out. I am nervous about it.

Anyone know the process for sending one in? Does Ruger contact you or does your gun just eventually show up?

Thanks

I called Ruger today and was dreading hearing the 4-6 weeks wait time I have read about. The person at customer service was very pleasant and informed me my gun was on the range and should be back home this week. We chatted about turn around time and he said the company had a new goal of 1 day turn around. He said he did not know if it was attainable but 4-6 weeks was not good for buisness.

My SBH returned today, one week from shipping it, that is pretty good turn around time. Got a note with the gun, they replaced the cylinder, pawl, and trigger spring. Quick measurments show the b/c gap at just over .008", not great but some better. The end shake has been knocked down to right at .003", that I am happy with. Going to go run a few loads through it and be sure it still shoots as good as it did.
