Rosewood Grips for new Blackhawk

So I could use a little educating.

I would like to order a set of rosewood grips, with medallion, for my newly purchased Blackhawk. It's brand spankin' new, manufactured last year (I think).

shopruger.com has two different sets, and I'm not sure which ones are correct.
Item No. 19882 states that its for the XR grip frame.
Item No. 70046 states that its for the single action "w/o lock".

An education would be greatly appreciated. Not only which ones are correct, but perhaps what the differences are.

Thank you,
Tim

These are both the same size grips and both fit with or w/o lock.

Item No. 19882 states that they're for the XR grip frame are laminated rosewood, the description reads Laminate grips. They will fit a NM Blackhawk, but not the NM FLAT TOP Blackhawk.

I cannot say why they're listed separately or $2 different in price except maybe the text author is confused. Altamont makes the grips. You might want to call Ruger.

The same grips are available here from Altamont but w/o the medallions for $28: http://www.altamontco.com/pistol-grips/ruger/blackhawk/

If you really want rosewood, search somewhere else. These grips are birch, laminated and stained rosewood. And they are plastic impregnated.

For real wood grips, search out a custom grip maker.

I agree with bob, you want the real deal rosewood, thats what I did for my 30 blackhawk,

I went with Fleur-de-lis Checkering Rosewood.

Here is a picture.

Here is where I purchased mine from, totally happy with them.

You're more fortunate than I am. I tried to order some solid wood, oil finished grips from Altamont and they would not make me any.

I prefer solid wood grips that are oil finished. These are walnut, not stained hardwood, and finished with Tru-Oil. Top pair from Lett, bottom pair from CaryC of CLC grips:

These are Bolivian rosewood, also finished with Tru-Oil, from Lett grips:

And these are mesquite from CLC grips. Cary confirmed that these are the first mesquite grips he ever made. Also Tru-Oil finished.

Yes, I got lucky, had these for a few years now, they are so much better fitting on a revolver than the plastic ones that came with it. I am happy with them.
