Got this in a trade couple of weeks ago and finally got some photos of it. Didn't even have a hint of a turn ring (until I got a hold of it. ).A member of the Ruger board was nice enough to offer a holster of his in trade for a set of grips I bought from him over a year ago. Used to have one of these in stainless when they first came out and stupidly traded it off for something else. :x That was in 45 Colt and well as this one. This is a "cleanup" gun as it has the 58 prefix which marks it as an original Vaquero (the New Vaquero started in 2006 with a 510 prefix), but it wasn't built until November of 2009 - figure they had some parts laying around and built some up. It also has the rollmark under the barrel, which cleans it up nice. The case coloring is pretty subdued on this one which is ok, as there is a very large chance that it is going to be carried often. I've got a full can of loaded 250's and may try some 300's just to satisfy my curiosity. Should be interesting if nothing else. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Ya I couldn't decide between a Montado and a Birdshead either. Birdshead with original Vaquero both 45 Colts ![]() Montado with New Vaquero both in 357mag |

LeMat; I have found that the Birds Head and a short barrel is absolutely one of the most compact big bore rigs that I have ever carried. I modified my SBH a number of years ago, and it the most "balanced" handgun I have ever held. I can switch my SBH to a hogs leg grip frame, but the Birds Head has been on it since I made the conversion. Just cant see a need to go back to the hogs leg.
