Picked up a jem yesterday...

I went to pick up some rifle powder I'd been waiting for, and checked the used counter as I usually do-and there it was, a lnib Bearcat. I asked if I could do a trade with my Taurus PT-917, he said yes so I brought it in. Did an even trade, got my powder and some unexpected primers and went home very happy-the wife even likes it! Been looking for a reason to get rid of the Taurus, this was it.

With his big brother...

The whole family...

This little shooter is in perfect condition, can hardly wait to get itnto the range.

When the Bearcat first came out, my father bought one for me to carry on the farm. It later went to my younger brother who still has it. I made a nice Tom Three Persons holster with his initial carved on it.

It shot to the sights and was a terrific "Trail Gun". It had an alloy frame and was so light you hardly knew you were carrying it until you needed it.

The only qualification I would make is that it would be nice if it had been issued with a set of adjustable sights (the S&W "J" frame adjustable sight comes to mind).

Congratulations on the find. The engraving on the cylinder really looks good!

Love the Bearcats! I put one off for years but when the chance came (wife bought it for me ) I jumped. Not a tack driver or one I'll hunt with, but for a nice small classy little revolver, it's tough to beat the Bearcat.

What is the thing on top of the case? I bought a Bearcat last weekend and found the same thing in my trunk but had no idea where it came from. I'm guessing it is part of the safety lock?

Yes, that is the lock. You remove the cylinder, it fits over the top strap and you put a padlock through it. I'll never use it, but it's part of the package.

I second the comment about adjustable sights. That would make it the best kit gun bar none. It's alittle hard for me to see the sights on my daughter's Bearcat(16th bday present, pink stocked 10/22 for grad from college present). Still a very fun plinker for pop cans on a Sunday afternoon.

I paint the front sights of all my pistols with a spot of white fingernail polish- helps a lot.
I can hit a tennis ball at 25 yards with the Bearcat, so the sights were well regulated from the factory.
