I have a nmsb 7 1/2" barrel. Wondering if anyone has ever change the trigger guard from the dragoon style to the rounded guard found on the 5 1/2" nmsb.
I put a set of hoque grips on but they are way too big for my hands. I like the wood grips but the tip of the trigger guard does a job on my knuckles. Any help or suggestions be appreciated.

Monkr; Years ago, we used to change out the SBH square back trigger guard for the smaller standard Blackhawk grip frame. With all the changes that have come about over the years, I dont know if that can be done anymore? A call to Ruger Tech can answer that question for you, or, their Customer Service smiths may be able to switch out a grip frame for you. Ruger can supply you with a New Model rounded trigger guard, but I believe it would come in "as cast" condition, and would need to be fitted and finished. The last gripframe that I ordered for a Ruger was a Birds Head in stainless that they made up for me for my "SBH short project", and it required major fitting and finishing. Another alternative would be metalwork to the grip frame you now have. It would require cutting and shaping the trigger guard that you now have, to a rounded style of trigger guard, TIG welding would be necessary to accomplish that modification, but if done correctly would not alter the strength if the grip frame. I have TIG welded on guns many times over the years and with proper prep, rod, heat, depth control and finishing, the work will look just like it came from the factory.
