Short Stroking a Ruger?

I shoot cowboy action matches and read on the associated forums about short stroked Rugers from custom gunsmiths. What are these smiths doing to the guns and what is the long term reliability after this modification has been done?

Lone Star will become famous soon enough
Short-stroking a revolver normally means that the shooter didn't let the trigger on a DA gun go all the way forward before pulling the trigger again.
The trigger won't re-set and the next shot won't happen. Let the trigger go all the way forward before pulling it again.

If this has another meaning to Cowboy shooters, I don't know what it might be. Presumably some sort of short-action mechanism, which is much different than "short-stroking."

Neither double-action revolvers or girls like to be short-stroked.

West is a Ruger guru. He is a renowned cowboy gunsmith that can shorten the hammer throw (short stroke) on Rugers.

The gunsmith will recut the hammer full cock groove and install a hammer stop to mate with the full cock. There may be some spring rework.

As a cowboy shooter since 2001, I have heard nothing bad about West's work. Reliability should not be a problem.

I shoot Ruger three screws with hammer stops but no short stroke.

Hammer stops are put into all guns converted for fast draw. It prevents over travel of the cylinder and damage to the bolt and bolt stops.

Cowboys install or have installed trigger stops to simply remove slop and shorten the stroke by a nano second. Makes for a precise crisp feel to hit the wall at full cockk. We do not fast draw.

I thought modifications like that were not allowed in CAS. I don't think the amount of stoke shortened by a hammer stop would even be able to be picked up by a timer.

Why is it that I get the feeling that CAS shooters have a disdain for fast draw shooters?
