Question Blackhawk comparisons (edited)

I've been reading a bit on this forum and it seems that some Blackhawk models (and calibers) seem to be better shooters from the factory than others. From what I'm seeing, people seem to get best accuracy from the SBHs. Does Ruger do something to the .44 caliber guns that makes them more accurate guns? Is the SBH a significantly different design in some way that's not evident?

The design, I believe, is basically the same, but in the case of the SBH I have, compared to my NMBHs in .45 Colt, the SBH is definitely better made. My 5 1/2" SS SBH is beautifully made. My .45 Colt NMBH required chamber reaming and a new forcing cone before they worked well.

Mark,

The only real difference between the SBH and the BH is the shape of the hammer and trigger guard and the unfluted cylinder on some variations.
None of these features make any difference in accuracy.

Variations in chamber and barrel throat diameters are found throughout the Ruger single action line and these variations have a noticeable effect on accuracy with some loads.
The alignment of the barrel and cylinder is also a factor.

Caliber, by itself, does not make a difference in accuracy.
I have three dozen Ruger single actions, in every caliber that has been offered by the factory. Some of them simply shoot better than others. I can't tell which one will be more accurate except by taking it out to the range.
