I have 2- single six 22lr one is a 1969 and the other is a 1970, when ever I pull the hammer back on both of them they go klackity klack really loud other than that they are good shooters cannot shoot game at short distance due to the noise is that normal?? If it is normal I will be selling and buying a different brand THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANSWERS
Oh it sounds to me like something's not right with those 3 screw models. They are probably unsafe to fire now. If you want to send them to me I'll make sure they don't end up in the wrong hands.
These are not the first single actions I have owned but it is the first rugers I got a deal on both together and yes I know that the single actions makes a noise when cocking but id bet you can hear these a hundred yards away and I was hoping there would be at least one person on here with a constructive answer that could possibly steer me in the right direction but I guess all you guys are just wise crackers lol
Might I suggest calling Ruger Customer Service and informing them you would like to have these 2 revolvers updated with the 2 screw conversion. They will do this at no charge to you and will send back all of the original parts. I have a hunch this would go a long way in making your revolver's operation much quieter as well as smoother.
I just purchased a month ago a new Pietta 1873 replica of a Colt SAA .22/.22 magnum revolver 4-5/8 barrel 10 shot it's bigger frame the a Ruger Single Six. Mine is all steel construction & it has 4 of the sweetest clicks & I love it! Yes some guys will pay to hear those clicks!
This is a SWAG, but you might try properly applying Froglube.
It won't totally eliminate the sound but I'm pretty sure it will damp down the sharpness of the clicks.
