| Red Label plain ol wood.
Hey folk's, Im just wondering if any of you Red Label owners have looked into changing the stocks on your Red Label. I absolutely love my Red Label but I must admit that it's stock pales in comparison to several of my other O/U's fancier stock's. I'd like to get a replacement stock for it. I think it's just too nice of a gun to have the "plain jane" wood that it came with. Have any of you done this? I'm wondering if anyone would buy the "stock" stock if I were to get replacement fancy wood for it. I really think it deserves to be dressed up with some really nice rare exotic wood. I have a cheapo imported Italian $500 American Arms O/U 12 guage silver ll that I use at my GC for training our youth hunting classes and even it has nicer looking wood than my Red Label! I've seen several other Red Labels at the club but none of them had "wow" wood on them. I think for the price they should come with at least a semi-fancy grain. Any thoughts?

Check Macon Gun Stocks. Just a thought, I haven't looked for Red Labels there.
Found a couple nice ones there for other resto projects. Prices aren't too bad.

Beauty is what beauty sees. My Red Label has much prettier wood than my Browning A-500. My son and grandson has Red Labels that have gorgeous wood. Are they as nice as a 2.5K+ European O/U? No, you probably get what you pay for.

The wood on mine is fine looking and well finished. My BIL bought a Mossberg O/U and the wood is cheap looking but the price is a lot less also. When I was shooting regularily at an RV park in TX one of the shooters used to shoot competitively and the wood on his O/U was custom made to fit him. He said the wood alone cost $4,500 and that was several years ago.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much from a 1K O/U, my RL is a fine gun but my wood is comparable to any one of my Mossy 500's. I found a small shop that offers several different options specific to the Red Label. I'll be reviewing their samples next week. My current wood has no "grain curls" and is lighter in color than JERGENSEN'S photo, if mine had his color/grain I would not be complaining at all.
