Haha, no kidding. "I've got a secret, and I'm not tell-ing..." I just got done explaining to my 5 yr old that he shouldn't tease people with secrets yesterday.

I had decided to buy a ruger gold label side by side and it was discontinued. That I can see them loosing money on as the quality was way higher than the price was. I think that should have been 3-4 k based on quality, but ruger could not get that price.

I own a Ruger Red Label Sporting Clays. It is without a doubt my favorite shotgun. From clays, to ducks, to pheasants, to chuckars it is my go to shotgun. Very sad to see it go out of production.

I heard through the grapevine that Ruger hired one of Browning's shotgun engineers awhile back. Apparently he was involved in the design of the Cynergy over and under. If this is true I would not be surprised to see a totally new over and under from Ruger.

Ill also go out on a limb and say that we are going to see a comprehensive shotgun line in the near future with over and unders, autos and pumps. I could be wrong, but Ruger has the ability to make that happen.

Sorry, Gotta keep some things under wraps. There's till such a things as loyalty and trust too, attributes that hopefully you've instilled in those same kids. Gotta kinda protect my sources of information or that trust and loyalty is gone and worthless.

I'd probably be in for an auto loader.

I could see them offering a platform that could cost-effectively serve several markets.

A pump frame and action, as:

A) a defensive weapon with short barrel and optics/light rails, extra shell clips, maybe tactical grips as an option.

B) A slugger deer rifle with 24" rifled slug barrel and cantilevered scope mount and a choice of wood or synthetic stocks.

C) A waterfowler with a 28" vented rib barrel, screw-in chokes, and a choice of wood or synthetic stocks.

D) Uplander/small game with 26" lite barrel, screw in chokes and wood stocks

Could even spin a hybrid turkey gun out of it at some point. Long-barreled goose gun?

It would even be cool if they offered OEM a la carte parts to turn one version into the other as desired. Part of what made the Remington 870 so popular is the combo barrel packages.

Awhile ago on a thread about tactical shotguns, a guy thought up the idea of the "Black Label" it was a shortened virsion of the Red Label with a top mounted rail and a different stock. Can't remember who wrote on the thread? But a great idea!
I am all for a pump or semi auto shotgun from Ruger. I would love something....I just don't want to buy a remington of a moss. Just not a big fan!

Mike also confirmed to me in a "Tell the CEO" response that they are working on a new shotgun.
