Shockwave in 20ga or 410

Id for sure be REALLY hard pressed to buy a shockwave or whatever the remington one is called in 410. It would be super fun and kind of ultimate "leave it under your seat" gun I think. If not ever available in 410, 20 ga would just be way ok but still a lot to handle I think. Ive shot a mossberg 500 with 18 inch barrel and pistol grip in 20 and although was "manageable" it really wasnt fun. I dont know how you guys do it with a 12, and I feel that I can generally handle recoil just fine shooting just about anything.

Opinions?

Have you used a birdshead grip or pistol grip? I think the birdshead is much less stress on the hand and wrist, however they seem to be designed for shooting from the hip (imagine tucking the buttstock of you shotgun under your shoulder). I think these will end up being a fad, 18.5 to 14 isn't much of a difference, but no stock to stock is a huge difference.

I have to respectfully disagree. I shoot a mossberg 500 with 18.5 barrel pistol grip frequently. As far as shotguns go, it is very mild. I can shoot quite a few boxes at each range session with no problems. Very easy to control.
If I did not already own the 20ga. 500, I would be very interested in the Shockwave, but only in 20 guage. My personal feeling is that 20ga is the perfect choice for home defense.
By the way, mine is the Flex, I also have the tactical stock, the hunting stock and a slug barrel for deer hunting.

I did place a grip on the front end of he stock. For myself, it gave better control of the Pistol grip and the tactical. Also easier to control the switch on the flashlight. JMO

Is a pistol grip on the front legal for the shockwaves? I know it isn't allowed on a pistol, but is on a shotgun, just didn't know how they would fall.

Save yourself a lot by going with 20 ga unless 410 shells have taken a huge price drop, would take the 20 over the 410 for defense anyway. My wife has asked about a pump for the house as well. Have even considered a coach gun.

I have shot 12g with pistol grips. It's ok. I would think 20 and maybe 410 would follow depending on sales and popularity of the 12.

I suppose you could make your own. Start with a pistol shotgun in 20 or 410 and modify the front end and creat your own birdshead to fit the shotgun... If you have the skills.

I can see a Shockwave in 20 or 410 being some good fun. Not everything has to be about purpose. We can just have fun.

I too would be interested in a Mossberg Shockwave in 20 gauge, but the 12 doesn't interest me. Hickok 45 has a video on it and he tore up his hand a bit by not having a good enough grip, although he and his son sure had a blast with them!

A possible option is the 12 gauge Shockwave with an OPSol Mini-Clip which allows using 1 3/4" mini shells & an 8 + 1 capacity.

ive had a shockwave for almost a year. If you are physically fit, its not problem.
Having had a pistol gripped SG as well, this is 100% better as far as felt recoil.
Sight this like it had a stock, pull forward on the forearm, twist both grips like you are wringing a towel and have at it,

Just to point out, the Shockwave grips are available to purchase for install on any Mossberg 500 or Remington 870, just keep in mind that your barrel will be 4" longer. Grips are about $25.
