+1 first single 12 gauge i fired was my dads at age 12. He bought the gun when he was a teenager, it was used. Its gotta be atleast 80 years+. Its an Iver Johnson Champion. He used to use it in his teen years to hunt with it. Now it probably hasn't been fired in 10 or 15 years, but every so often I take it out from behind his door and clean it. Its on home defense duty for him. I also own a NEF/ HR Pardner in 12 gauge, that has a full rifled barrel 3" chamber and what I would called a non tapered bull barrel. It really closely resembles a M79 grenade launcher from the vietnam era. And to date it has the worst recoil I have ever had a shotgun give me, and I have shot atleast 50 or 60 different ones. Its a bruiser, but a heck of a deer or bear gun below 200 yards.

2nd gun I ever purchased was a single shot Stevens 12g, still have it and it has been used many times for birds. One of my favorite challenges is shooting two clays with it, got pretty quick on the reloads with that exercise.

First 12ga I ever shot, 10 years old, was a single shot that my grandfather won in a poker game during WWII, did a lot of hunting with that gun, wish I still had it. I now have a New England Pardner Model 12 gauge SS, every time I look at it, it reminds me of when I was a kid. Great shotgun and kicks like a mule, but I love it. Don't hunt any more, this one stays next to my bed.

No, I don't like single shot shotguns because , as a kid I got shot in the back of my leg with a load of rock salt by a farmer wielding one of those gas pipes for teasing his cows.

I've got an H&R Pardner in 12 gauge. 32" barrel and full choke. I'm looking forward to beating myself up at the trap range with it. It might not be the top of the line trap gun, but it is good enough for me!

I have three such guns. One is a NEF 10 gauge I got in high school that I use for geese, a H&R 12 gauge I use for rabbits, squirrels, and upland game, and finally I bought my oldest son a NEF 20 gauge for when he gets old enough to go pop bunnies with his dad. Just 4 more years to go!!! I can't wait to take him.

Weird huh? I mean, we can't have AK's (Prohibited), AR's (Restricted, same as handguns), handguns (except at the range), more than 5 shot mags in rifles and 10 shot mags in handguns, BUT.......... we can have a 12" barrel shotgun. Gotta love Liberals.
And I thought US laws were strange.

I love them. I shot my biggest buck to date years ago after losing all my guns to a nasty divorce . It was the only gun I had for a while and I took a lot of ducks, geese, squirrel, bunnies, and 3 deer with that single 12.

My single-barrel is a stainless H. Koon 'Snake Charmer' in .410 bore from the early 1980s.

Also, in the '80s, a friend of mine earned a new H&R 10 ga single. After cutting the barrel down to 18 1/2", it made a pretty good truck gun.

I have an H&R 20 gauge shotgun that is surprisingly easy to use on Small Game. It's nice and handy, and swings pretty well. I have another one that doesn't totally fit your bill, it's a Savage 24 O/U .22 WMR over .410 . That's a very useful gun, and is very accurate with the .22 WMR barrel, and the .410 barrel is chambered for 3" shells; it's very versaitile.

I have a PARDNER Model SB1 .410 gauge, Full Choke, 3" chamber, I picked up several years ago at a pawn shop to use as a "Critter Gun" around the house.

On occasion I'll bring it to the range for a "work out". It's fun to shoot
