That's the way I truck carry-picture a repairman's truck with who knows what behind the seat and even in a scabbard the safety could be bumped off-the way I carried in the cruiser (which we just called the po-lice car)--grab it-rack it-boom-no safety to fumble with till I decide I need it...at home-full load and safety on-standing in its own little corner-noone to touch it-besides, I can repair sheet rock -- not truck metal!

I've had a Mossberg 500 for about 30 years, holds 8 2 3/4 or 7 3 inch in 12 guage. Friend bought one about ten ior twelve years ago. We stocked up on 3 inch mags with 00. I think each shell holds 15 shots. Clue me in RNettles.

White Dog, I have the same gun as you and I always keep some .00 buckshot for it. Something about a Pump .12ga Shotgun that gets peoples attention when you rack a shell into it.

I've seen it stop 'em in their tracks, and I've also seen it kick them into high gear and burn the bottom out of their Converse All-Star tennis shoes..............either one would work for home defense-the second is less paperwork. I feel that anyone who'd break into an occupied home is probably willing to do harm...and many murders are because the victim knew the young man who broke in-and he couldn't bear for his folks to find out........I take it much more seriously in the home than on the street.

Amen to that. My best friend was delivering milk early in the morning and he took the milk into the house as per usual. When he took an opened bottle out of the way he dropped it, in a few seconds he heard the slide rack one in and he shouted out to the home owner [they knew each other]. He still talks about how scared he was.

I love talking to you-you dig up good memories-our milkman used to come in and put it in the fridge-we'd leave the number of empties on the porch that we wanted...Dad would leave the back door unlocked the milk day---the milkman and wife would come over and play Canasta with Mom and Dad once or twice a month. Ssometimes I'd be up that early and try to tell him Mom wanted some chhocolate milk-but it never worked-one time he gave me a little glass pint of chocolate and I can still taste it...made my day!

Speaking of memories, Calvin sparks a lot of them in me and so do you. I guess thats why the early riser took off so good. Calvin, and Rick Nettles, Yourself and others had a lot of input into it, like past experiences, personal beliefs [ Its really amazing to me how different people such as libs and conservatives think 180 degrees apart ]. Anyway this forum, to me, is really enjoyable.

Yesterday I saw stocks for shotguns at the gunshow and was thinking how mean they would look on my mossberg 500. Decided that would be an expense I didn't need, the Mossberg with that barrel lenght magazine looks mean enough. Thought of shotguns in a darkened room aiming at my head as I was trying to crawl thru a window possibly prevented me from becoming a criminal or a gonner. Tell that to an anti gunner. Maybe they'll buy a shotgun

I know what you mean Rick, Been trying to save for ruger rimfire pistol but go to too many gunshows [ 3 this month ] so I guess you could call me gun show poor.

I just shoot mine every great once in a while, about once or twice a year and as I get older I feel it more. Probably won't feel it kick at all if I ever have to use in defense. I would hope shell racking in would deter any sane person but there are some crazies out there on drugs or something else and it might not even faze them. Had that happen across the street coupla years ago A guy with a knife wanted to break in and kill this old guy he didn't even know, cops got there in time. Keep my M. 500 loaded and ready, clean it a cuopla times a year.

Maybe I'll pick up a set when I go pick up my new Blackhawk 357/9... They can't be more than $60-70...
