shotgun wait period

OK first off I admit that I am a old man. But the last time I purchased a shotgun was in 1979 at JC Penney's and paid cash for it and walked out of the store with it that night with no registration or wait required. So my question is when here in California was the wait and registration requirement for shotguns placed in effect?

IIRC, the waiting period law for long guns began April 1997. Long gun registration did not start until 2014.

According to this article it started in 1996. The ninth paragraph down.

Sorry, hopefully the law is changed due to the court challenge.

Can't answer your question relative to California. Here in the "free" America in the midwest, the waiting period is how long it takes your credit card payment to process or no time at all if you pay cash.

New Jerseys purchase restrictions on long guns started in 1966.

In Kentucky ,Shotgun, Rifle, or Pistol, you fill out the paper work or do it on a computer. If everything check out okay, you walk out the door with the weapon the same day.

The wait here in Maine takes as long as the background check takes
(usually 30 minutes or so ) And if your CC clears you go home same day
BUT if Hillary gets in that can all change :O
