Ruger Mini 14 series 186 $650 good price?

Looking at trading for a Mini 14. Always liked the look of the 14 and always wanted one, but was never able to afford one or I couldn't find one when I could afford one. Well looks like I might be able to get one. It a series 186 and it currently is in a ATI tactical folding stock. I have not seen the wood stock, but am told it's in good shape ( I like the wood stock better). The person I am trying to get it from is valuing it at $650.

Is that a good price?

Correction it s the 186 series any good?

I know I need to so some research but figured some of you mini 14 experts might know on the top of you head. Thanks for any held and info.

I'm no expert, but it sounds fairly reasonable, price-wise....especially when you consider what happened today at that Naval yard. Better grab what you can, while you can; the sheeple and their sycophants in the halls of power are already ratcheting up their anti-freedom rhetoric again.

You gotta remember - there was a period of time when the older mini 14's was getting a bad rap for sloppy tooling and thin barrels. Depending on where you are located, you may be able to pick up a new one for a couple of hundred more. I would offer $500 for it and see if he takes it.

Ok thanks. I'll look around to see if there are and locally. I offered him my Polish M44 and $250 cash. He's been wanting my Polish M44 for some time now. Basically he's valuing the M44 at $400 plus $250 for a total of $650 for mini.

JJ if you are happy with the way the gun shoots and the other guy is happy with the trade then it really doesn't matter what we think. :)

I paid $950 for my 195 Ranch with scope, wood, folding stock and several 5 rounders and a 10 rounder. Me and the seller were happy.

I have a Mini 14 in SS/wood stock and its a 187 series. Its had a ton of all kinds of ammo put through it and its never left me down. Holds a decent group, and is an excellent coyote gun. I give $500 years ago and have not regretted it. Have not seen any new or used Mini14's around this area for some time now.
