Mini 14 Stock Options

Hello all,

I have a mini 14 tactical with the collapsible folding stock. I would prefer a stock such as the hogue overmolded stock, or like the black synthetic stock.

i have a hogue overmolded stock for the mini 14 but i don't think it will work due to the collapsible folding stock "top part", not sure what it is called, maybe the barrel heat shield, stock fore end upper (?), I have not taken it apart just yet.

Any suggestions on what is required, parts, etc., to switch the stock over?

I just got and installed a Ultimak rail on my mini-14 tactical w/ Ati folding , big improvement, it replaces the hand guard that it came with. The only thing though is you have to spend a little time with a dremmel and file to shave the lower part of the stock where the hard guard is for the rail to fit against it. I am running a small red dot- a trs -25 on it. Before I burned up a lot of ammo trying to chase a zero with it with the flimsy plastic rail and handguard until finally I gave up, now after about a dozen rounds it is sighted in and holds zero, even with semi rapid aimed fire. The rail does get hot though after a little rapid fire.

I also have a plain synthetic stock which I can change out if I would like to having to mess with the optic w/ the ultimak rail which is also a plus.

You are going to need a handguard assembly. I have a standard ranch rifle Mini 14 (wooden stock) but I also have the Hogue overmolded stock and the ATI tactical stock that is on your tactical model. The ATI stock has its own handguard assembly, while the Hogue assumes you are switching from a ranch rifle model and already have the metal handguard assembly to use.

I'm sure you can order that part from Ruger directly, and you may also be able to find it at Midway.com or Brownells.com.
