Ok, so I answered my own question earlier today when I stopped by my LGS and found a SR556-VT on the shelf and below MRSP @ $1599!!

WOW...

Anyway, back to the orignal topic. A close inspection revealed that the A2 stock is mil-spec and therefore interchangebale with an adjustable version; although after holding it I don't think I'll be changing the stock.... I just have to figure out how I'm going to break it to my wife....

I was concerned with the length of pull & ease of mounting the rifle... Now that I've had a chance to check it out in person, I don't see it being an issue for me

That said, my daughter might be more comfortable with a shorter LOP, so long term I might change it out if it would get her shooting more!
