Yes, the Hogue is "sticky", but once you get used to it, you may want one on all your guns! I prefer the rubber, really helps when you have sweaty hands or are in a high humidity situation.
The hogue stock also has built in bedding blocks, and will free-float your barrel in addition to saving a good chunk of weight.

Is that a bad thing? Not enough to prevent me from buying a 3-9x 40mm for my mini 14.
Nathan | I know very little about Redfield scopes, but I thought they were assembled in Oregon and that they are pretty good? No?

| Redfield scopes
Hi have looked at Redfield Scopes at Cabela's I wouldn't be afraid of buying one thet are very clear. Also from all of the great suggestions & ideas I think I have found a good scope. It's a Burris compact 2-7x28 in excellent condition. I will put this on my Mini14 Ranch Rifle along with a new Hogue over mold Rubber Stock! It sounds to me a good way to reduce weight both in my gun & scope! Thanks again |

Burris makes nice scopes so does nikon..
I cant afford $500 leupolds, and im not an advid shooter/ hunter so i could never justify the cost.
I got the redfield from a lgs for $179 which is less than what i budgeted for. I was waiting for the nikon prostaff to go on sale, when i discovered the redfield..
Couldnt be more pleased.

But after going thru 2 shoulder surgeries I want to shoot my mini 14 but I want a light weight scope preferably a 2-7x32. Today at Cabela's I looked at the Redfield Revolution 2-7x32 a leupold 2-7x32 as well the leupold was the lightest weight but carries about a $250.00 price tag. I would really appreciate your thoughts and ideas my mini has the wood stock. I would also consider a straight 4 power or a 1-4 power also have the same thoughts of a light weight scope for my Ruger 10/22 your ideas thoughts & comments would be much appreciated thanks!! | It is not a scope, but you might try the Burris reddot 3 for anything up to 100 or 125 yards. This does not cause a change the balance of your rifle or any weight you might
notice. I have had 3 back surgeries and my big scope put me in a hurt, but with the fastfire 3 red-dot sight I come from the range in better shape with less pain, and before that big scope really hurt me.
You might want to try one before the buy
Before I was ready to sell my mini14. Now I acquire my tatget in a fraction of the time. For home security it works supper in low light so with just a little light you can hit dead center. My shooting under 150 yards is much better and can acquire my target much better than with a scope, and that could save my life here in the inner-city.
