| Mini 14 best mags?
I am expecting my new mini 14 tactical to arrive tomorrow. My question is what is the best mag to use? Should I stick with factory mags or is there a quality, less expensive after market alternative? Thanks.

Stick to the factory mags, there is alot of crap that was put out before Ruger started selling the hi cap mags to everyone and most of them sucked so bad you could not even get a whole mag through the gun with out a jam or other malfinction. Factory all the way!

I have 20 round Pro mags that have worked as good as the factory mags, but factory mags are always the best. I have tried many other brands and they all have been total junk, none of them would run over 5 rounds without jamming and some would spit out 10 or 15 rounds when the bolt was pulled back.

I have 4 Tapco Gen II 30 rounders. Work as good as factory. I bought 2 Pro Mag 20 rounders and had to "dress them up" with a jewelers file a bit now they work flawlessly.
I trust the Tapco's as well as the Rugers.

Try the Gen II Tapco's they have a lifetime warranty. Cheaper than Dirt sends them to you with a return tag. You don't like em send 'em back. I have 4 of them and they work flawlessly.

Why not just stick with the ruger mags? I do have some PMI 30 round mags I bought before the ban when Ruger only sold to LE and they function flawlessly.

Just saying even if a person decides to use aftermarket magazines it wouldn't hurt to have a few factory magazine on hand.

I also stick only with the factory OEM mags. Tried a pro-mag and it was a waste of money. But, you do not have to pay Ruger's web store price for Ruger OEM magazines for your mini - check out CDNN, they sell the OEM 20-rnd mags for $28.99, and Midway also sells Ruger factory mags for less than Ruger's store price. So shop around and you can get Ruger mags for less than Ruger's going rate.
The nice thing about the factory mags is they work, and they are very well made - should last a lifetime with a little care, and they would take a fair bit of banging around at that.

I have had uniformly bad luck with non-Ruger magazines for the Mini. By contrast, never a single jam, stovepipe, or anything with a Ruger magazine. I have given up on non OEM magazines for the Mini.
