I was looking to pick up some factory Ruger 30 round mags for my mini 14 tactictal that I just ordered. I got some 20's for my mini 14 target that work flawlessly are the 30's just as good? Found some for $36-$38 plus shipping, that sound bout right? $50 at lgs.

They are a few dollars cheaper here...

Seems like their shipping was less also but it has been awhile. I have heard that the 20 round mags were more reliable but I haven't had any problems with the 20 or 30 rounders. It's also nice to have a 5 round mag if you shoot off of a sandbag. Those long mags get in the way.

The Tapco Gen II(30rd only) run well in my Mini. Cheaper Than Dirt has 'em.

Midway has them for 37.99 Ruger Mini14 30 Round Mag

CheaperThanDirt only has Ruger Mini14 20 Round Mag 34.97

Bud's Gun Shop doesn't have Ruger Mini14 30 Round Mag (where I got my mini30 and 3 extra 20 round mags)
It was suggested on another forum that I only get 20 round mags for the 7.62x39Russian because the accentuated curve could ('could') experience some feeding problems. So I will get a few extra 20 round mags to compensate.

I had the same dilemma, but I finally settled on some extra 20 rd. factory mags. The 20s are supposed to be more reliable than the 30s, and of course, not as bulky. CDNN has them for $28.99, + $9.95 shipping total no matter how many items you order. I have always avoided non factory mags and never had a mag problem.

If you get a 30, let us know how it runs.

Back in the 80s i had several ruger factory mini14 mags with 30 round capacity and they worked flawlessly. Since 1990 NJ has had a 15 round mag limit so i cannot legally own 20 or 30 round mags.

I have gotten several hints lately that Magpul may be working on mags for the 14/30. If so, we may find a good source outside of Ruger factory mags at a great price. Until then, I would stick with factory mags from a reputable source that you can trust to be sure they are not cheap clones like can be had on ebay.
