| Mini 14 in .222 Price Question.
Well, the old man I have been helping for awhile, finally told me what he wants for his Mini 14.
It's in .222 caliber, has 0ne 10 round mag, a scope (I don't remember make or model) and looks to be in good condition. No rust or pitting, Bluing maybe 98%, and the stock has a few small dings that may steam out. Overall I would say it's in 95% condition.
I don't need it, but it is on my want list.
GB seems to list them around $1000 to $1200. Not sure if they sell at that price or not.
$825 is what he is asking for it.
Just wondering what the forum thinks.

I had to google .222 caliber lol... I thought it was a typo maybe. Why would you want a .222 Rifle? Sorry for the ignorant response but I just don't get it.

Yes, I never heard of that caliber. Ruger made a Mini in that cal?

FYI....Nice caliber to shoot very accurate....but it was to a certain extent made redundant by the mighty .223 , i have a friend that shoots it ,and uses it with great success on Fallow deer,definitely not the choice of ammo that is available in .223...but its a cool caliber none the less....but if it came to choice personally i would prefer .223. .222 Remington - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Has that mini been customized? I didn't think Ruger ever made a mini in .222. I know about .222 but that was used in bolt rifles for years before the government started using the .223 then the .222 fell out of favor. It is a very accurate round used by bench resters early on before better rounds came out.

Some of the very early mini 14's in the 1970's were produced in .222rem. You can find them sometimes on GunBroker and there is currently at least one on gunsamerica.com for $750.

I already have a Ranch Rifle and a Mini 14 in .223.
The .222 was sold to countries that did not want civilians to own firearms in NATO calibers. I guess they didn't want the civilians to be able to use their Armys ammo during a civil war or uprising.
Just an oddity that I would like to shoot and add to the collection.
