| Ruger 10/22 bull barrel
Alright i am new to the site i am just glad i found a forum site where i can ask any questions about Ruger. I have just recently purchased a Ruger 10/22 and i am looking at upgrades. This ruger i would like to give it an assault look but my next ruger i am looking to make it a longer range rifle it that makes since. So i am looking at the Bull Barrel and i just wanted to know if i was to purchase a bull barrel for my next ruger can you shoot any type of 22 ammo you like or do you have to use a certain round with the bull barrel? Thanks

| Assuming you are attaching your new bull barrel to your existing receiver, you will still be firing the same .22 lr you are already using.

Depending on the chamber, you cannot use Stingers. Depending on the twist rate, you can't use some bullet weights successfully. It's also not pick Barrel A and ammo B and expect perfect results.

See this is the kind of info that i need in order to do this build and i do appreciate every ones info. Right now the 10/22 is still completely stock if i do need to switch out the receiver or anything in order to make this a more accurate gun at longer ranges please help me out with any type of info possible or if you have any tips for me like which items to buy or anything please let e know. Also if you think I should just build a new rifle from stock in order to make it the best i can let me know. Thanks

If you put your question over in the Ruger Rimfire (10/22) section of this site you will get more responce.

Since you have a stock 10/22, do your careful research as indicated, in the Rimfire Forum, since you can spend a lot of dinero making it an accurate target rifle. Maybe more than the original cost of the rifle. Don't let this deter you. There is excellent ammo out there and as indicated at least a million posts(a slight exaggeration) on this site that each rifle seems to be acclimated to a particular ammo. There are a lot of selections of ammo. You have to experiment with each to see which works for your rifle.
In any case, I have a Ruger .22 factory target with bull barrel that I literally lucked into at a gun show that I reliably shoot 1in or less at 50yards with Federal Champion ammo.
Good luck to you.
