Deerfield Range Test

Mounted a 3x9 Simmons on my, new to me, Deerfield in the supplied Ruger Rings. The rifle comes with a scope protector that wraps around the scope just above the ejection port. Has anyone had any issues with ejected brass making contact with the scope and more importantly making the rifle jam by not ejecting the brass all the way because of contact with the scope?

Ruger also made a pad that mounted on to your scope so that the brass wouldnt hit your scope. so Im asuming they Knew about this issue. It should still eject all the way though.

Be sure you are using 240gr. ammo. the gun was made around the ammo not visa versa.

I use hornady leverevolution 225 gr. not as heavy but enough powder to make it kick out the brass.

My doughter uses winchester 210 gr. silvertip hollow points in her carbine with no issues.
she is only 12 yrs. old and so she wanted less kick. We both have .44 carbines but they are not the " newer " Deerfields w/ magazines.

hope this helps.
