Love the scope. It is a Nikon Buckmasters 6-18x40 side focus matte with mildot. Being up higher, brass no longer hits the scope which killed the first nikon. Thank goodness for warrenties and replacement programs.
I would buy those two options, add and Ultimak, and buy a soon to be released Aimpoint Micro T1 2MOA dot. That would make me so happy. Add to that, I bailed on my Mini14 about six months before Ruger flooded the market with their own magazines finally. I was so sick of trash mags that were such a waste of money. Go figure I ditch my Mini right when awesome parts start finally being made for them... DANG IT!!!
9mm is your Mini 14 a ranch rifle with the composite stock? Man I really like the mods to your Mini 14. What brand of scope rings are they. Is that a barrel stabilizer you have on your gun? Love the hooded front sight as well. I would like to get a factory composite stock, scope rings like you have and also I like that front sight. My only difference would be a smaller lighter weight scope.
Thank you for the complement. I am very happy with the outcome. The scope rings are not from Mo-Reaper. They are from Weaver. Yes they do fit fit the factory scalloped mounts. And yes, a little blue loctite is your friend. Got these rings so I could use iron sites and keep the scope higher up and out of the way of ejected cases. This killed my first Nikon scope from multiple hits of brass on the scope. Had insurance so I got a bigger and better one. Hope this answers your question. Oh yes, found them on Ebay.
Sorry Kodiak. Here is the information you requested. Weaver see thru 1 inch Mount ruger Mini 14 Stainless. 1 set. E-bay. Have the scallops and fits the mini-14 and 30. Hope this helps. type this in and you should go to the ebay site. Weaver See-Thru 1in Mount Ruger 77/22 Mini 14 Gloss. Enjoy your build.
I received my scope, was 30mm, so for now have gone with Ruger mounts. I tried the Harris bipod with the adaptor..do not like the adaptor for the mini..fell off at the range. So, looking to go with you're set up with mo-rod. Would like info on your bipod and how you like it. Oh, have not noticed any brass hitting my scope, must be close though.
Maybe because your scope is 30 not 40 your are safe. Mine was not so lucky. With the new x 18 scope and the taller rings as pictured, life is good. Scope is nice and clean and no shell casing hit marks. The adapeter that goes on the Mo-Rod is fine. Look for a better bipod. The one I had, is a 10 dollar bipod and a piece of J??? Looks great in pictures but in actual fire, must hold it back so it does not rock. Not a great deal. Very important. Mo-Rod said that you need to dimple the gas block when you set the rear two set screws in place. Do it. I learned the hard way that the entire MO-Rod will walk forward because of the bipod. Please don't laugh. I went to the Harris bipod adapter and bought the Ruger bipod on half price sale. I am hoping this works for me. Maybe we can both learn something from this adventure. Hope to see more pictures of yours in the future. I can do the pictures of my new update, but I want some range time to see real world functionality. Let the improvements continue. Hope this helps the cause. Any tips from you will greatly appreciated. Tell you what. Send me a message that you want this one and I will send it to you. As I said. It is sad. Your call. Sorry, No other takers on this deal. Between Kodiak and me. Thanks all.
I like that Mo-Reaper muzzle brake. I have an older style flash hider on mine, but if I can eliminate the factory sight, and that flash hider, AND gain a better sight and have a muzzle brake instead, I'll do it...eventually
wbalmanno. I would say quite sturdy. In fact, after 50 plus rounds it would walk the Mo-Rod forward on the gun. As I stated in an earlier quote, you will need to set the rear two screws in place. I did not and the the moved. My fault not Mo-Rod. I now went to a Harris Bi-Pod adapter and a bipod from the ruger web site at half price. Seems very sturdy with blue loctite. Maybe this weekend I will be luckly enough to try the update for me out. Hope this helps.
Just got the mo-reaper for my mini-14. Looks like a quality item for the price. Going to put it on my serial number 183-xxx mini, but don't know if they sent me the right one. The package states: mini-14, finish-black, fac tact-no, barrel-flanged. Are they talking about the taper just after the gas block, or something at the muzzle end? Really do not want to install the wrong item for this ranch rifle. The other selection on the package is barrel-trad. What does that mean? Traditional? As you know, my early mini-14 (183-xxx) does not have a taper just after the gas block. Got an e-mail saying to send this one back, and they will send one for the newer type barrel??? My gun was made in the early 1980's! Someone help with this please. Thx
Actually they will send one for the older noodle barrel like you have. This will greatly reduce your muzzle flash and give you a great sight picture. I would recommend the Mo-Rod to help keep your shots from stringing out as the barrel heats up. Just my opinion. Either way, they will ensure that you have the correct part for your mini. Great people. Make sure they know the three digit serial number to ensure correct fit. Keep us posted how everything is going.
