I don't know if Pro Mag makes a stainless version, but their blued versions work as well as the Ruger OEM magazines.

| I stick with ruger after trail and error.
I have a stainless promag for my mini 30 but it was maybe one out of ten promags that worked great and the others were trashed for being crap. I haven't seen any stainless ruger mags in a long time but I have seen some on the old mini 14's probably manufactured in the 80's. Example the old GB with the factory folder stock you used to see on the Ateam. Maybe they were nickel plated I am not sure. Had a friend that was a gunsmith and had a few years ago. I haven't seen any in a long time, but for me even though my 30 is stainless it eats from a blued ruger magazine, and my 2 mini 14's as well. I own probably 10 or 12 factory ruger mags from 5 rounders, 20 rounders and 30 rounders and though they are expensive, they work everytime, so they are worth the money. I have used them for atleast 11 or 12 years. Quote:

I agree. Factory mag is the way to go. No problems with those mags.

not to dig up an old thread, but everyone is trashing promags in this thread.
i got a 20rd ruger mag when i bought my mini-14, it never holds the bolt back as it is supposed to after the last round. so i bought another ruger 20rd mag thinking maybe my first one just sucks, and that one is slightly better but has the same problem. i figured out it had too much play because the "backstrap" on the magazine is too high on the frame, so when it sits in the action it doesn't push the bolt lock up high enough unless you push up on the back half of the magazine. so today i bought a promag 20rd magazine just for S&G's and wouldnt you know it, the backstrap is lower than the factory mags, and the bolt holds back when you cock it, it doesn't even try to move when you pull the mag out with it held back either, not to mention there is no play in the fit if you try to rock it back and forth while it's installed.
Promags for the win. I will be stocking up on more of these mags soon if they cycle the rounds through correctly on my next outing
P.S- they aren't stainless, but just thought it was worth noting

Don't have experience with aftermarket mags, but you can buy ruger factory 30 round mags from Hoffmans Gun Center on line for $30 each. Just bought 2 20 rounders at the local gun shops.

I've got a few after market mags that don't feed well in my mini, so I always stay with the factory ones. The only problem I have with these factory mags (speaking of the blued 20 rounders only) is the finish, as they can develop rust. So keep a silicone cloth handy and wipe them down ever so often.

Yeah...Factory is the way to go, the only aftermarket mini 14 mags that are worth a hoot is the old{as in out of production} Precision brand mags. These old mags will run you around $50 bucks if you could possibly find one so there's no reason to use anything but factory.
