I've owned a PC9 and a PC4 in the past and really liked them, though they were a bit heavy for long carry. I see lots of carbines when I visit gun shops, their popularity hasn't diminished any over the years.
How popular do you think a new Ruger carbine would be in today's market? I was thinking about something lightweight, like the Kel Tecs, but using SR9 and SR40 technology so that mags from these pistols would work in the rifles? I think that if Ruger would make them, and price them close to the pistol prices, they would be very good sellers. I know I'd rather have a Ruger then a Kel Tec or Hi Point any day.

i have a PC9 myself and do like the idea of a new carbine. but why limit your options by mating to one pistol? it would be a simple matter to oversize the mag-well and offer adapter inserts for other clips.(yeh i said the C word and i meant it)

I have one of the Hi Point 9mm carbines, and it's a fun, so far reliable gun.
However if Ruger came out with a similar offering I suspect the HP995 would go up for sale.
Only drawback would be trying to find enough SR 9mm magazines.

I know I'd buy one or more. I'm considering a Beretta CX4 Storm carbine, although the prices on those aren't as good as any other.... they seem to go for about $750 on the low end.

I have an old Marlin Camp Carbine 9mm. Same idea as the PC9 but uses S&W 59 Series Mags. It is a fun gun, but not nearly as tough as the Ruger. I kick myself for not buying the Ruger when they were around.

If they came out with one that took the SR9 mags and priced right, I would be all over it.

I have a HP 995 TS an like it alot. Works well and is fun to shoot.
If Ruger came out with one that was priced a lot lower than the PC9 and worked well, I would definitely consider buying one. All my SR9c mags could get dual usage.
I've never seen the PC9. There is a link to a side by side review of the old style HP (no longer made) and the Ruger. Unfortunately, the Ruger didn't come out looking very good....

I think if Ruger would modify and re-market the PC9 and PC4 to accept Glock magazines they could not produce them fast enough for the demand. The original idea to have the Ruger P series pistols and their police carbine to use the same magazines was a fantastic marketing ploy, unfortunately, the Ruger P series pistols just wasn't well received in the law enforcment community.
Just think of how many Glock 9mm and .40 S&W pistols are out there needing a good carbine to mate up to. It just boggles the mind to think of the potential.

You might want to find a thread around here somewhere about "Cheap guns can be good"
and read some of the testimonials about the High-Points before rendering your judgement of them
