Mini 30 bore/groove diameter
What is the barrel grove diameter of Mini 30's? I have heard for many years now that it is the same as any other 30 caliber barrel. i.e. .308 groove dia.
I ask because I do not own a Mini 30. I do own a Mini 14 and several single action Ruger revolvers and really like them all.
IF--the groove diameter of the Mini 30's barrel is .308, then I would guesstimate that chamber pressure would be up somewhat due to the 7.62x39mm cartridge's .310 diameter gilding metal jacketed bullet being squeezed through it. Most imported ammo seems to have copper coated steel jacketed bullets of .310 dia. The steel jacket could raise the chamber pressure even higher. Also, dare I think that Ruger is aware of the misfire problem with most of the imported ammo and has attempted to discourage its usage by deliberately giving the Mini 30 a light hammer fall from the start? Then there is the corrosive ammo issue. Ruger folks are pretty savvy. Whadda youse guys think?
