hello, first of all please forgive me if i screw this up, it is one of my few talents...... i recently ordered a sr556c (august 10) in upstate ny i was wondering if anyone might have some insight as to when i would get the call from biekirchs (the gun shop) saying that they have my ruger. i knew when i ordered it that it was probably going to be backordered. i am more than willing to be patient however having some loose time frame would be great thanks
happy shooting

| Thanks For The Help!
I placed my order for a SR556FB at the local Cabelas today. They will transfer the rifle in from another store and I should have it early next week. I went to a local gun shop, who told me over the phone they had one in stock. I hightailed it over in a half hour and he said he couldn't find it. They then tried to sell me a couple of real nice rifles with similar features starting at around $300 more. I'm sticking to my guns and getting the SR. I've had a great experience with the Gunsite Scout I have.
I wanted to thank the forum guys who helped answer the basic questions and helped me make my choice easy. I'm looking forward to hanging out and talking about some really cool guns! Take care and have a great Labor Day!

happy shooting | I forget the exact dates but between 3-4 weeks is how long it took when I ordered mine, so I'd say expect the same. I really depends on where they are ordering from, because I believe Ruger isn't even taking orders at this point. I know that not knowing the exact time frame is agonizing, but they will eventually call, believe me I went through it not long ago.

I have one of earliest runs of sr556 s#590-129xx. It has flat bolt end if you get a PWS enhanced buffer tube you will not have any tilt wear got 1500 down with PWS with NO wear. They are 65 to 99 online.6061 alum and 7075 alum. I did just received my sr556 back from repair and requested bolt and majority of gun returned cause it shot so well, but paid to much for tube wear on oem tube, left rail slightly out of spec(larue qd wiggled),and brass shavings in trigger well (geiselle ssa).i also inquired about lightening my weight and they put cinch bolt quad rail which to me is lighter.see more off story and pics on semi-auto forum help with weight

i finally got my sr556 after one day out of the box and 10 boxes of pmc gold i know that i made the right choice. i am by no means a "pro" however taking my time right out of the box at 100 yds my sr556 shot some excellent groups any error was all mine. i fully disassembled to clean however this turned out to be more to satisfy my curiosity than anything else the weapon was incredibly clean.

I researched for 2 years and sr556 just felt the best out of all your major makers. PWS tube is a must it ELIMINATES carrier tilt. I have had no trouble with gun over 2k rnds and 1 bullet misfed, but that was after trying regulator 3 . Switched back to 2 and no probs. I have also fire rorg 5.56 NATO 90 grain with no loss of accuracy compared to 55 @100yds. If you call ruger they will address your issues. You can see b4 pic of gun, new rail, and pws pics in picture semi auto section.also have eotech 551 with larue qd and 553 with arms mount and have started ayung on eotech g33 sts 3 x magnifier. I have talked to eotech and even when 2 year warranty is up it costs 79.99for laser , glass with nitrogen, and windage. I am not familiar with aim point so I can't seal for them. When I asked some military folks eotech is what came up and wouldnt look back. I do have to let mine cool for 10 min after heavy shooting. Long winded but thought could offer some of my sr 556 experience. Happy shooting

There is no carrier tilt problem in the newer 556's. If you have an old one with the old bolt, Ruger will replace it. The aftermarket tubes are unnecessary and a waste of money. Thank you. |

i sent it back to ruger and they replaced the buffer tube and three shots they tested with had wear. also the pws tube reduces weight, has been loved by iraq and afghan military for fluted tube so debris doesn't bind up stock, reduce recoil speed by 10 % for less recoil and faster acquisition. so at 65 for 6061 alum or 99 for 7075 alum they are one of the cheapest and most effective way to improve an already awesome rifle.so your beveled bolt has no scrape marks at all. just curious. i knew the setup i had worked so thats why i asked for it back. i fired 500 rnds this past week after getting gun back and pws now has 2k thru it and tube lip by detent is brand new black no alum showing at all. thanks

happy shooting | c and cla models are gonna take a while from what reps at ruger told me. if you see one in store thats what's been made so far and shipped so they are making your rifle and there has been alot of interest. it will be well worth the wait. i love my fb and even more since ruger put lighter quad on my rifle. there are photos in semi auto photo section

There is a large surplus of SR 556's. Mail order a new one.
Look into the advantages of doing this!
Don' deal with a local - uncooperative dealer. He is just a middle man, suckiing up your money! Make sure the mail order dealer has them in stock and ready to ship. Buy it, get a confirmation and ups shipping number and have it sent to a dealer.
