what do i need to get the grip screw out so i can change my grip? ive tried everything i have and nothing fits, and its not a flat head>

What kind of firearm you talking about? If a Ruger, a well fitting screw driver always works. I have never seen a grip screw which requiers a phillips screw driver.

its the ruger 556. ive tried everything. a 4.5 hex key works but not long enought

3/16 Allen wrench. I have one that has a screw driver handle on it, or you can buy the tee handle version.

Be careful not to lose the detent & spring for your safety selector when you remove the grip.

Get a longer allen wrench, a hex bit (also using an extension) for a ratchet wrench, or a screwdriver with hex bit.

Mine's a 3/16 hex and you need a long one. AR 556.
