Noticed a weird tear in my bolt carrier

So I recently purchased an ar 556 and I took it to the range once. No problems. But when I was cleaning it I noticed a small tear in the bolt carrier near the firing pin. It doesn't affect the firing pin at all but I was wondering if anybody else ever had this happen.

Hows your trigger hammer, buffer detent and bolt catch look? Your firing pin looks beat up too as there is too much wear on it to me.

Everything else looks fine. It's just that tear that I'm worried about. Going to call the customer service tomorrow, I think it's pretty ridiculous for that to happen after about only 30 rounds fired

Agreed, something is not right for sure. I have never seen an AR BCG do that, but then again most AR BCG's have a shrouded firing pin.

My recent experience is that Ruger still has quality customer service. I recommend sending them photos, that is what I did and they immediately jumped into action. My first call to CS was pointless, but once they saw photos of my issue, they were very quick to request the gun be sent back.

That bolt carrier isn't right by any standard. It looks crude and rough, like it was made in a Chinese back room. Call Ruger customer service in the morning and send them the photos. I'm sure they will send you a shipping label to return the rifle. They will want that piece of crap carrier back because that is not Ruger quality.
Ruger will make it right, of that I am sure.

Agreed, that's why I replaced / upgraded the bcg in my AR556 with a DSArms full auto bolt carrier group. I'm totally happy with the bcg upgrade and it runs like a fine Swiss watch with never a failure of any kind.

Just spoke to customer service after I emailed them some pics they called back like an hour later and told me they will be sending me a new bolt carrier group. I'm just glad that they took care of it and no cost to me when this was obviously a quality issue.

Still like to know what caused that kind of "tear". It wasn't there when the gun was new?
Definitely check other parts for strange signs.
