I'm seeing on FB that they marked the AR-556 as having an "instant rebate", which equates to a sale price... it isn't promoted by Ruger. I bet if you look at that email closely, you will see S&W products with a true mail in rebate program and then some products that just have sale prices.

Basically, they are trying to piggyback their marketing of other firearms with S&W and Browning rebate promotions.

It's a TEMPORARY price. That was the point I was trying to get across. Don't expect those low prices to stay. 2/3 of the links you posted states they are temporary sale prices. I bet GrabaGun is too, but just doesn't state it.

All pricing is "temporary"... it reacts to the market. Have another mass shooting and a push for bans, the prices will go up. However, these prices have been trending lower for months... They are not TEMPORARY like a one week sale. They will remain low until the glut in the market has been absorbed.

The showing of the price that they were getting pre-election and now saying sale... that is called marketing and psychology! The fact is that those prices started dropping after the election and have continued to drop since.

I just picked up an AR556 for $499 and a $60 Rural King rebate, bringing the price down to $430. My first AR. Field stripped and cleaned it last night. Hoping to get out and shoot it this weekend.

Yes, my mistake, SR556. Still can't imagine anyone paying close to that right now.

Does anyone know why the original SR556 was so much more money than the current 556?

Totally different firearms... The SR-556 is piston driven while the AR-556 is direct impingement. Apples and oranges.
