PC9 & PC4

Guess I should add that they are both NIB PC9 & PC4 kinda wonder about weather to shoot them or not.

They are both the 48th produced unit, coincidence? I'd give Ruger a call just to check it out.

My RENE guide lists 470 prefix gun as a PC9 shipped in 1996. the 480 prefix should be a PC4 shipped in 1997.

Caution: Look at the S/Ns. Ruger had a program in the past where VIP clients could reserve the same "last" serial numbers in a series of guns. You may have two in this series. I wouldn't shoot or sell them until you know more.

I suggest you contact Chad Hiddleson at: CHRugers@aol.com
You can buy his reference guide and likely discuss what you have with him.

Keep us posted...

Well Chad did take time to read and answer my email. I had already learned about the 2 digit numbers being VIP and/or employee but he also said that there were guns in a warehouse that had been set back that were released in a clean out a few years ago.
He also confirmed what I was discovering and added some input. He said in his opinoin 2 digit guns are always collectible but with any Ruger made after 1972 a tougher sell. he went on to say that the Ruger PC carbines do have a good following and these 2 being what they are would have alittle more value.
So I guess I just need to decide weather to put them back in the box or shoot and enjoy them!

Wow! Wajo, very nice find with those carbines. For what it's worth, I say shoot them and enjoy them. I had lusted for a PC9 for some time before finally finding one available online. I probably paid too much for it, but what the heck.

I enjoy shooting my PC9 quite a bit and find it to be quite accurate even for my aging eyes. I also like the fact that as a companion firearm to the P-series of pistols, many of the magazines are interchangeable. (Which led me to HAVE to acquire a P-89.)

Are you willing to share what you paid for the pair?

Due to the wheeling-dealing and bartering plus the fact that the seller is a life long friend that I consider family you wouldn't believe me and it would have no comparison to todays value. The whole deal shocked me and that "takes something".
