New guy so I've got old question

First of all hello. I'm new too the forum and new to AR's. I've finally been talked into AR's by my friends and just purchased a ruger ar556 last week. I'm looking for a good website to purchase everything to remove the forward sight because i cant stand it plus to dress it up. From what ive seen from looking around the net i need a .750 low profile gas block. Plus kinda looking for what free floating system works best for the ruger. I'd like to say thanks in advance for any info u guys give and hope too be of any help to u guys in the future

Woodsman81, I felt the same way about the front sight so I bought a Midwest Industries low profile gas block. As for "free floating" the barrel, this is a technique used for long range target rifles .... not 18.2" barrel short range rifles. I seriously doubt accuracy will be any better after you spend more $$$ to free float the barrel. Your gun, your choice.

Here's my Ruger AR556, complete with a 10 round magazine, a sling, a Nikon 3X scope, UGT rings, and the low profile gas block:

The Low profile gas block is the first place to start. I used a Midwest Industries micro Gas Block. I also have a Midwest Industries Free Floated Hand Guard on my AR556. I liked it because it came with its own barrel nut that didn't require timing for the gas tube. Just torque it to the right ft/lbs, and you're good to go. I like the look of the free float system, and I have noticed a slight improvement in accuracy. A lot of rails just attach via a standard mil-spec barrel nut, but since our barrel nuts have the threaded delta ring, you would have to purchase a mil-spec barrel nut to use. Not really a huge cost, but definitely something to thing of/be aware of. I've attached a picture of the rifle shortly after it was free floated; please ignore the POS reflex sight, it has been upgraded now.

Welcome from Washington. Have you tried the usual suspects like Cheaper than dirt, Midway and Brownells? I just got the new cheaper catalog yesterday and looks like lots of black rifle stuff in there.
