I have 4 other ARs that run tula fine. Is this a known problem with the Rugers?
2 boxes of tula steel ok in mine so far.

Usually shooting Wolf Gold brass or federal. All ok. Usually can find either for just over 30c/round online from time to time, so no reason to shoot steel, in my opinion.....

Tula Ammo is perfect for AR. Don't listen to these biased opinions. Unless you have a very crappy built lol. I shoot 7.62x39 out of AR all the time. My buddies shoot 556 all the time.
Only thing is, take the bolt apart and clean it. There wiil be carbon build up around the bolt. With 556 it won't be too much.
Now about wolf ammo..... In 7.62x39, bullets are a bit longer than standard ( you can see the stamp line sticking out) this creates feeding issue in AR.

I recently tried 40 rounds of Wolk steel case in my new AR556 (a friend gave it to me to try), the gun cycled flawlessly but the groups were not great.

My 556 gives pretty decent groups with American Eagle 55g FMJ, purchased at Sportsman's Guide for $340 /1000 rounds. So I am sticking with the brass ammo.

Personally I don't want to use steel case, but it was nice to know the gun would function with it. That is if a 40 round test can really be considered a test?

OP, I hope you get it sorted out.

I was watching you tube videos today on this very subject. It boiled down to Wolf worked well Tula did not. I have a bunch of steel .223 for use out in the desert or the end of the world as we know it. Luckily it's Wolf.

I had a bit of Tula from the great ammo shortage of 2012 sitting around but shot it all through summer before last IIRC, mostly in my AR556. No issues. That said, I won't buy anymore. That Lucky Gunner test wasn't kind to Tula in particular, or really steel cased in general in terms of what it does to your barrel.

I shot about 80 rounds of the steel-case, lacquer-coated .223 Remington ammunition sold by Academy Sports and branded as "Monarch". I believe this is made by Barnaul (Russian). I did it mainly to see if it would work OK if I ever needed to use it for some reason.

I don't shoot enough to make the price differential between brass and steel that significant.

The steel case ammo cycled and shot fine in my AR 556 without any issues.

There was a survey regarding this particular ammunition on another forum that might be of interest:

I have put 300 rounds of Tula 223 through my AR556, not a single issue. No issues with extracting, feeding, gas pressure or primer strikes. Good stuff.
