AR556 Gas Block, trigger and firing pin retaining pin issues

I got my AR556 last July. In the accessory bag with the front sight post tool was a pin. No idea what it was for till I had fired about 100 rounds of 5.56. That pin was one of the two that secure the gas block. I only found that out when the one pin that the factory did insert worked it's way out. Fixed that myself. After another 100 rounds, the trigger pin worked itself halfway out, causing the bolt not to close. Put that back myself too. Finally, while disassembling the weapon to clean it, I needed a small screwdriver to lift the firing pin retaining pin out of the bolt carrier. When the pin was finally in my hand, it had opened enough that it could not be reinserted.

To Ruger's credit, they requested that I ship it back to them on their nickle for inspection and assessment/repair.

My son bought the same weapon at the same time and has had none of those problems that I know of. Anyone else have any out-of-the-box or low round-count issues like this with this weapon?

My brand new one has the same firing pin retaining pin issue. While it is normal to pull it out, it is NOT normal for the pin to have so much trouble going back in. I had to use a screwdriver and about 5 minutes to get it back in. I've done it in the past thousands of times so it's not me.

I had the same problem. Ruger had some out of spec FSB tapers pins that were to small and would work their way out. They supplied me with the correct pins that I installed and the problem is solved.

Meaning what, exactly? You can't pull the bolt carrier back with the charging handle? Does the hammer not drop?
