after an overnight soak in some Kroil they punched out this am , they are taper pins and they are set in there really tight, worse that any Colt or Bushmaster I have ever removed.

and its the classic L to Right to remove them, smaller Lo Pro gas blocks will only cover the rear pin and the front is visible with most skeletonized rails.....why the eff would Ruger put the pins on the top ??

Ruger AR 556 Scope and Laser Update

Read a bunch here. Yesterday, I did a mock up and have ordered a new mount. Had an older (built like a tank) Leupold Var-X III Gold Ring scope. 2.5 X 8 X 32. GREAT GLASS.

The Burris P.E.P.R mount (1" QD model with TOP Rails) will WORK PERFECTLY. I cut blocks and "mounted" the scope with duct tape so that it will be the SAME as the Burris Mount.

The scope's rear eyepiece will sit about 1/4" ABOVE the folding rear sight. The eye relief is perfect....and also adjustable. This is a great combo and saved me the cost of new scope. I can NOW pop off the Scope and use the open sights.

The beauty of this is that you can ALSO put on a Rail Mounted laser on it. I also mocked up the rig with a Crimson Trace CMR-206 Green Laser. It will mount on the TOP rail of the Burris and the laser will clear the Front Lens or Objective.

Thus, you COULD also mount a laser sight and have a scope and the whole thing is Quick Detachable.

Really excited about doing this. Saves a lot of headaches and $$. THERE are a lot of good scopes out there...but for my use, the Leopold is just the ticket as I am selling the M77 7Mag that it came off of.

Hope this helps others. IF I run into conflicts, I will update or revise this post.

Thanks to the folks that suggested the Burris mount.....

BTW, you will also have room for 45 Deg mount IN FRONT of the Burris Mount. You COULD mount a Laser there, but folks say that "zeroing" a laser on a 45 deg mount is a bit tricky....but it really seems simple....so there are ALSO other options.

Bang Bang....
