Alright, finally got a chance to take some pictures of my AR556. I think I am just about done with upgrades for now. I just added the magnifier and rail, but haven't had a chance to take it out to the range.

Current parts are:
Troy Industries Medieval Flash Suppressor
UTG Pro Drop-in Quad Rail
Magpul AFG2 Angled Foregrip
Vortex Strikefire II Red/Green Dot Sight
UTG 3X Magnifier with Flip-to-side QD Mount
Magpul MOE+ Grip
Magpul CTR Carbine Stock

Thanks and will do. I hope to get to the range in a couple of weeks or so. Just haven't found the time.

As far as the fit for the Hexmag, it seems perfect on my AR556. It attaches securely and drops when ejected. It does the same on my other complete lower.

I'm interested in a range report too.
I'm curious as to how well the Ruger556 shoots in real life.

Just put on a mission first tactical minimalist stock today. Looks neat and fits tight. No rattle or play.

Boy those things can sure be dolled up. I'm betting the pocketbook not available accessories are the limiting factor.
Well maybe weight you are willing to put up with?

What tools did you use to file it, dremel? I just purchased one of these and waiting on it to be shipped.

No, I have access to a milling machine and that's what I used. A dremel would work but keep a steady hand when grinding and it would help to make some sort of jig to keep it steady.

Here are the dimensions I used.

Are the gas blocks that are being used to replace the front sights on these rifles pinned or do they have a set screw? Which ones has everyone had the best experience with or do you recommend. I am planning this same swap and just found this forum. So far impressed with what I see.
