I don't have an ar556, yet. But can any of you tell me if it has a commercial buffer tube or mil spec? Also, how is the staking on the gas key? And is the bolt carrier bearing surface where the bolt rides chrome lined?

The back end of that scope (I have one) is made to be mounted much farther forward, being at least 'just above or slightly in front of' the charging handle.
Strangely enough, where I have the scope gives me the best eye relief for the way I comfortably shoulder the rifle...I've got gorilla arms and shoot with the stock fully extended. I tried mounting it farther forward, but lost my eye relief.

If I shorten the stock, everything is just too bunched up.

Also, you're correct in that I mounted it on the blocks so I can keep the BUIS ant the front sight was pretty distracting at 1x.

All I can say is that it seems right for me...

It looks like that rail gun the Germans had in WW2. Pretty sweet though

Just added a XTS bi-pod I got from Academy sports. $30 and I bought the small Mapul bolt on picatinny rail for it.

Here it is...

Congrats on your 556. I just ordered one Thursday and I'm interested in that bipod. Question was that difficult to install?

The magpul rail piece was kind of tricky to do by myself. But the bipod just slides on the picatinny mount and clamps on like any other attachment.

Here's a few pics of the bolt on picatinny rails and the bipod to show how I attached it.

I got mine today.

Also, not sure everyone is aware, or maybe I got one that is different from all of the others, but the AR556 has a non shrouded firing pin and AR15 style bcg, not a M16 bcg:

My best was about 3" with 5 shots. But I'm never consistent. Ithink I could do better laying down with it. Sitting on the bench is still a little wobble-y. I was shooting Xm193.

Honestly I hate shooting paper. If it's not dead red I'm not happy. But if I can hit a 6" steel plate at 75yds the majority of the time I'm thrilled.

Well, decided to ditch the Nikon for a red dot. I bought the vortex sparc 2.
