If its a carbine length gas system, there are several that should work..

I have seen fitment issues with the utg before, its tolerances are not as good as the american produced versions, which sometimes causes fitment issues.

^What Tacky said. Most carbine length handguards should fit.

What exactly did you purchase? If it is a carbine length quad rail, it should fit.

Theres "drop in" type..and then theres others that aren't. You want the drop-in style.

Having said that, heres the one he should have... it shows to be a drop-in for a normal carbine. Is the AR556 different(proprietary-ish?) in some aspect?

He said it is UTG Pro, which is American made and higher quality than the imported UTG line.... Either he purchased a free float model and not a drop in, or a mid or rifle length, or the version that has the cut out for the FSB and extends past the FSB. If it is the version with the cut out, the non-standard FSB used by Ruger does not allow the rail fit without modifying either the rail or the FSB.

I purchased a drop in for my carbine. The problem is the aluminum UTG Pro doesnt have reliefs cut in the aluminum to clear the gear by the delta ring (dont know if this is just a ruger thing). So is their anyone out there that has actually changed to a quad rail on a RUGER ar556???

Can you post pics? the only issue I have seen is with the three piece rail that extends past the FSB. Fit and lock up at the delta ring was fine. And which drop in? Can you give the part number?

Update! it fits UTG pro U416S like a factory piece nice and tight. I almost butchered it with a dremel lol. I just had to index the ribs until it slid right in. ooooh so sexy!!

you have to change the barrel nut to a standard one then any handguard should fit with the poper gas block

How much work did you put in to get the UTG to fit? I ran into the same problem this weekend and returned the handguard

I'm taking off the front sight and putting in a low profile gas block this weekend. It's a Midwest industries gas block. Would I be able to put a rifle or mid length quad rail on it, or am I still limited to carbine length?

Same Problem

Having the same issue with a MFT Battlelink hand guard. Id really like to get this to fit. Anybody have any suggestions? I can get the top section to set in or the bottom section to set in, just not them both at the same time.
