I like my Mini and would buy it again ...
I started shooting couple years ago, at the age of 54 years. I did a lot of reading, thinking, window/web-shopping, and, when I first found the Mini, I liked it, just on looks. However, the entire argument about accuracy gave me pause. In the end, I decided on a 10/22TD first, because I was an old rookie (and, living in the city), I have no good place to shoot anything more than a 22. So, I started practicing/learning with the 10/22 and continued reading, webpages, message threads pro/con/polite/ugly, learned about Tech-Sights & Accuracy Systems, and so on. However, because of all that talk, I hesitated on "pulling the trigger" for the Mini ... until, the 300BLK versions came out and until I'd read some reviews. Again, I'm no expert, but I haven't read or seen anything that would make me $0.01 disappointed in having decided to purchase my Mini-14 (even if some folks seem to give me an odd look whenever I say "I got a Mini ...").
Anyway, part of why I'm satisfied is practicality, as so many of you all have already said. I know my Mini, whatever caliber, won't take down any kind of varmint at 800yds, but I can't either, nor do I have need for that. Heck, I don't even own a scope and I screwed up the only red-dot I have (so far). However, I am confident that if worse came to worst - why I bought it - we'd do fine, based in part on the attached 2 pix.
