Good to know, thanks. I thought there is no way people aren't noticing these aluminum filings all through their lowers or not noticing the metal gouged out of the buffer face. And obviously if I got two this way in a row there has to be MANY more like it. As far as the magazine problem I think it's just that, a magazine problem. The fact they run fine with gen2 mags and not with gen3 is clearly a magazine redesign and change. I think the only reason Ruger is doing anything with it IMO is cause they shipped rifles out with them and they don't work. It's not a huge concern of mine due to the fact there are still a couple magazine options. It's not unusual for a firearm to have one and only one proprietary magazine like a SCAR for example. If it was a standard AR15 it would be a different story I would expect for anything I stick in the mag-well to run reliably. AR10's are a different animal and there is really not a "standard" design. Just my two cents on the magazine issue. I suppose if they can fix it easily without making my gen2 mags no longer work I'd go ahead and have them do it sometime. Some people are claiming after the fix DPMS, gen2 and gen3 will work and some people claim it's either DPMS and gen2 or gen3 only?

yeah the rifle is made to work with gen 3 magazines that's the way it was supposed to work from the beginning. they had some problems so they sent some out with DPMS magazines . now they're back to gen 3s. they changed the design of the lower recently to work with the gen 3's like it was supposed to.....I have not tried any DPMS or gen 2 mags in my gun yet so I do not know if it will run them

My original SR762 came with Gen 2 mags....They work well now as do the Gen3's but I've put them away for another day.....I think Ruger was probably a bit blindsided by Magpul as they designed the Rifle for the Gen2 mags thinking the Gen3's would work without a problem....boy were they wrong....I'm just happy that Ruger has made this right in a relatively short period of time....You should see some of the Sig forums on their 716-308 rifle....its been out for years with many problems still plaguing it.....

Have you tried Gen3 mags? I would make sure it works with Gen 3 or send it back to Ruger as you won't be able to find Gen2's for very long.....You don't want this to be an issue a few years from now.....

yeah they probably did not have any gen 3 magazines to work with when they were designing the rifle so they assumed they would probably be pretty much the same as the Gen 2 and they just used them ....I don't think they want to use the gen2 anymore because I don't think they are going to make them anymore

Yeah I probably will send it in so it can use all magazines. Ruger gave me a build date of October 2013 already. I have tried Gen3's and they are a no go!

Like you I had an early build date on one of my SR762's and sent it back to Ruger. They returned it with 3 new Magpul Gen 3's and there's been no looking back....that serial number was x16xx, so pretty early build date...

oldag will become famous soon enough
PWS Precision Rifle Compensator 5/8x24 RH 3PRC58C1

Works well on the .308. Would estimate muzzle flip reduced by about 2/3.
