Problem re-assembling Mark III 22/45

I know there are lots of posts on the disassembly/re-assembly process but I'm adding another one.
My problem is that after insering the mainspring housing bolt pin and then attempting to close it, there is some much pressure that the pin pulls down and I have to stop and push/drive it back in fully. I had this problem once before on another 22/45 but can't remember the solution.
What am I doing wrong? I have watched the Ruger video over and over and over but with the same results.

Figured it out!

Ok. I tried again and again and finally figured the problem out. What was happening is that when I pressed the magazine release, the magazine was popping up too far; a good 1/2 inch in comparison to the 1/4 inch noted in the Ruger video. As a result, when I pulled the trigger 5 times and then held it, the system was not cycling and the hammer was not properly positioned.
To solve the problem, after pressing the magazine release, I gently pushed the magazine back down until the spacing was about the 1/4 inch. Then when the trigger was pulled the 5 times and held, the system cycled and the hammer was correctly positioned. I could then close the mainspring housing normally.
I love it when a plan comes together; although planning and execution of the plan were not cooperating in this case. :D

When the bolt stop pin pulls back out as you close the mainspring housing into the grip, this means that the hammer is not all the way down. If that is the problem that you are describing, you need to insert an EMPTY magazine and then depress the trigger and make sure that the hammer is all the way down. I usually push the hammer down with a Q-Tip or screwdriver. This is how it is with my Mark pistols; I assume it is the same with the 22/45.

Removed the mainspring so I could see if the little lever that you have to line up in order to finish the assembly was in place and you can not see it so I assembled it wrong. It must be jammed up inside the lower receiver. Don't understand why the spring housing closed so easily!

You made my day

I watched your video and gave it a few taps and the main spring assy. Slide right out of the lower receiver.

Worked on it for hours the other night and i thought that it would be best to just put it aside before i really did some damage.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your knowledge!

All you guys are great, thanks!
