Talking New SR22 Purchase

I was in my local Gun Shop and buying more .22LR to have on hand for once my permit comes back from the state. It's been 8 weeks and hoping to have it soon here in CT, so I asked if they had any SR22 pistols in at the moment and how hard are they to get? The guy said they had two in stock, one with a laser and a silver anodized slide and another with black anodized.

I hesitantly asked, "Is the black one the one with the threaded barrel by any chance?"

He checked and it was....I asked if I could partial pay a deposit on it and come get it when my permit comes in, and they said sure, but it's 100% payment and they put it in the vault for you. If you don't get the permit or change your mind it's store credit only. I said OK and laid down the credit card after going through the box and checking it out and recording the serial number etc.

I have shot about 400 rounds through the SR-22 rental at the local gun range and loved it. I used to have a Mark II Bull Barrel and decided to buy one again but changed my mind when I saw the tried this little beauty.Even ordered extra Ruger magazines for it online which have come already (now if I could just buy high velocity ammo and pay less than $40 a brick...but have been stocking up when I can).

Now I really can't wait until that permit comes and I take it to the State Police Barracks to get it finalized for statewide. I had a permit for 20 years in PA but moved to CT.

New SR22 Purchase

Holy crap, CT gun laws suck!!! That's ridiculous the government-imposed hoops you people have to jump through to acquire a legal product.

Congrats on your gun purchase. At least you're lucky enough to have some 22LR ammo to buy locally. They don't make you get an ammo license to buy that, do they? Is there a 30-day waiting period for magazines?

Sorry, draconian gun laws piss me off.

Congrats. You will enjoy your SR.

Mine sat at my local gun shop for almost 2 1/2 weeks before I received my purchase permit. I eventually had to visit the store just so I could see my SR in person even though I hadn't received my permit.. LOL. That was a 1,000 rounds ago and I am enjoying it even more now since I installed a Crimson Trace laser on it last week. Just a fun shooting pistol that is easy to breakdown and eats a wide variety of ammo.

I have a couple of friends that have the SR22. If .22LR had been on any shelves that I have looked at recently, I'd probably would have bought one by now. Congratulations on a heck of a pistol.

^ CT was $119 from Amazon w/ free shipping. I think it has gone up a little in the last week. Very easy to install and even easier to sight in. Very bright light (don't expect 100% outdoor daylight use though) and with the iron sights it makes a great set up.

$40.00 a brick, I wish. I just paid $100.00 dollars (Cash) a brick at my local range which is the only place I can find it right now. I purchased three bricks when I got there and tried to buy another brick when I was leaving but they wouldn't sell me another one, said I had to come back another day and pay to shoot again.

What shop did you go to? I can't find any ammo. If I had a dollar for every "Nope sorry" reply I'd be very rich

Truly enjoy my SR22P and also my Mark II. I wished my had a fiber optic front site though. Great guns to take new kids out to teach them how to shoot.
