. | Does yours have the newer black finish cylinder? It's called Ionbond DiamondBlack. Someone besides Ruger makes the coating. I wasn't sure I'd like it as well as the Target Grey, but it has held up well through cleaning so far.

I'm hoping Ruger makes a 4" barrel version and maybe even a hammer so I could go single action for a lighter trigger pull.

I wasn't aware they changed it and haven't seen any with black here in CA.

The LCR22 is really accurate and fun to shoot. We have about 600 rnds through it and it shoots everything without a hitch. I used up a lot of my really old ammo shorts, long, long rifle some 40 yrs. old no problems.
We keep it loaded for HD with CCI Stingers, along with a 21a Bobcat and an LC9 for CCW

My LCR-22 was a replacement, test fired the same day it shipped to my FFL. I have seen one black cylinder 38 LCR at a Gander.
My LCR-357 has a Target Grey cylinder.
Here's a photo of my LCR-22. The Ionbond has matte finish, more charcoal than black. http://rugerforum.net/pictures/bearc...-bootgrip.html

I just put down a deposit on a 357 KLCR. Have to wait until the 12th to start the CA background check and 10 day waiting period. I'm excited.

Congrats. | I am so happy that my government protects me from criminals by requiring me to wait 10 days to buy a handgun. |

I'm thinking of the LCR-22 myself for a very concealable carry. 8 rounds. Yeah, it's .22 caliber but it makes noise and hurts when it hits. I'd rather scare the bad guy off then make him bleed all over my carpet. Thoughts on the LCR-22 for self-protection?

Lots of heavy clothes would be tough to get through perhaps.
And, since you brought it up, once I have decided to defend myself with a firearm I am no longer trying to scare anyone; I am trying to stop them to defend my or other's life.

While a .22 would not be my first choice, I have no issue with 8 .22 stingers as my self defense weapon. If you can place them well you can stop a threat.
edit....Jeff Quinn has a very nice review of the LCR here: http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger-LCR3.htm

I have the 357 and the 22. The 22 is my backup for practice, and if the 357 is ever in Ruger Newport for R&R.
I wouldn't feel too unprotected with 8 rounds of 22 in a good revolver.

Stay safe,
Norm | Good buy. As I said a few messages above, I put a deposit down on a 357 LCR on Tuesday. I fill out the paperwork on Monday and then start my 10 day waiting period. Should be picking it up Thanksgiving weekend. Can't wait to get both guns to the range.
