I've got 2 Sr22's and I find both of them to run very clean on federal bulk red box walmart. i've run 600 rds thru each in one session with only 5 fail to fire. Out of 1100 rds.
Make sure your recoil spring is fully seated on the guide rod and stays there. As far as accurate. If I work at I can take out empty 12 ga shells at about 50'. With such short barrels and sight radius you can't expect much. I can usally got them in the ten ring at 30' without much work. An other good round if you can find them is winchester M22's almost as good as CCI mini mags at $47 per 1000 at Walmart. i don't even buy Remmington hate that stuff. i little note Federal Blue box and Federal red box are the same ammo just different packing. I got that from Federal rep.Red box Walmart, Blue box sporting goods stores.

I picked up my SR22P and took a bore brush to it and wiped it down at the range and shot 200 rounds through it today. I used Federal Champion HP ammo and it was relatively clean. I had a couple FTF due to probably bad ammo not to spec. Other than that it was flawless.

Thanks to all that have posted, this is great info.
Hey GMSoapy,
I usually shoot 10" square steel plates 20 yards, then i set out my own targets at 10 yards and 5 yards.
The SR22P is accurate I can hit the steel plate at 20 yards for about 2-3 mags then the gun just starts to get less and less accurate the more i shoot.
But i have been taking my 22/45Lite, I am getting 10/10 strikes on steel with it at 20 yards and grouping is pretty good, and that is almost as fast as i can pull the trigger.
The SR22P does require more concentration to hit target at 20 yards, at this distance do to a shorter sight radius and a moving slide vs a bolt, thats ok but to have the accuracy fall off like that was weird.
At least I have a good starting point
I just picked up three bricks of Federal Blue, so ill be shooting with in the next few days

I am going to clean the guns tomorrow, I hate to shine a bore light in the SR22P, I can imagine those blazers and Winchester Golden bullets are nasty.

Try FrogLube. Most any other CLP will attract dirt. FrogLube will not. I've been using it several months now and could not be more pleased.
If nothing else, check out their website at www.froglube.com. It couldn't hurt!

4. Federal Brown box shot well, and seemed some what cleaner.
| Heh well there's the problem... you started off with ALL dirty ammo, especially the Blazers. The Federal 525 blue box you mentioned is clean; you won't be disappointed with that. The most reliable, cleanest bulk ammo i've used with the SR22 is the new winchester M22... good strong muzzle energy to eliminate FTF.

Are we talking about the Ruger SR22p? Sounds like total BS? I put 250rounds through mine yesterday and the gun wasn't even dirty? REALITY!
If it's that bad send it back to Ruger and quit spouting dirt!!!!!

Tony | I think he is expecting too much from a "plinker" and a FUN "plinker" at that. I can't wait to go back to the range with mine after today! I fired both my SR9 and SR22 today and had a blast. Had a little more fun with the SR22 and pretty accurate for a 22 plinker!

that is odd...the only problem that I have with my SR22 is running out of ammo to shoot.....the accuracy never diminishes.........the only other thing that i can think of is that some people have had an issue with the screw holding the barrel to the frame being loose....If you have checked that already, not sure what to tell you....my SR22 is super reliable...I have even toyed with the idea of using it as a CCW...

Those blazers are wax coated and are Goldens Winchecester or remington. I don' care either. I like Federal Red box Walmart or a real nice bulk round is Winchester M22 RN black plated but they're hard to find. I like to run a bore snake thru mine every couple 100 rounds. One pass just clean things up.

I find the Federal Champion JHP to be clean in both no waxy build up and residue left behind in gun was minimal.

Thanks to all that replied, and gave some sort of good advise
Problem is solved do to the helpful people that relied.
I took 300 rounds CCI Mini Mags
& 2000+ rounds Federal Blue Box to the Range today.
Like i said before, with my 22LR pistols
I try to shoot a 10" steel plate at 30 yards, I have targets also set at 20 yards, and 10 yards.
My SR22P with this new AMMO shot FLAWLESS,
It was accurate, for the whole duration, at least 300 rounds through my SR22P today,
It did not diminish, in accuracy like it did before, It did Not suffer from MANY, MANY FTF, FTE, & STOVE PIPES, Like it did frequently before.
I guess I found out what my SR22P Likes and what It Does not like.
My SR22P hated the following Very Dirty Ammo,
1. Winchester white box
2. CCI Blazer
3. Remington Golden bullets
Funny Last time at the range when i shot my Dirty ammo list above.
My 22/45 Lite had no problems with the very dirty ammo listed above
Neither did my Mk.II
neither did my two 10/22's
But they all, sure were VERY DIRTY though
I shot all of the 22LR guns listed above Today with ONLY the Federal Blue box bulk & CCI mini mag ammo,
all guns were very clean after shooting the Clean ammo today at the range, in comparison to when i shot them with the Dirty Ammo listed above.
The SR22P was like a different gun, I was very happy with it today, I had No failures, no loss of accuracy, It was great, to have the SR22p to be Very accurate & Reliable, I have a new gun, My SR22P is not a dud.

After it is cleaned it starts off good but then must be getting dry, or dirty from the other dirty bullets being used, after around 2-3 mags, then gets worse. | Good, the drier the better.
Oil does attract dirt and debris.
All semis work better clean, all guns for that matter.
Your SR22 should not get that bad after just two to three magazines unless you are using excessively dirty ammo.
My 22/45 can run all day on any ammo, it does gets dirty, but is always clean for the next time.
